Such a cool pub, really really good service and super friendly. The pub itself has this really nice atmosphere about it that really puts you at ease. The prices are insanely good too, really getting fantastic value for money here. The outdoor space is really nice too. Really recommend coming here!

The Engine Inn was a really nice place to visit next to the river. Four of us went for a meal, everything worth the money and food really nice.

Very welcoming and friendly staff, lovely atmosphere and good selection of ales. Our room was spacious and comfortable overlooking the river. Excellent menu, we will stay again.

Fantastic pub. The food was excellent – the gammon I had was one of the best I’ve ever eaten. The flat iron steak was incredible with perfect onion rings and amazing peppercorn sauce. I honestly can’t wait to go back!

Went here for a meal with family and the staff were very helpful and friendly the food was absolutely delicious and well worth the money would highly recommend going here for a meal we will definitely return.
May 2022 – 5 STARS A Short But Wonderfully Memorable Stay
Stayed overnight with friends as a halfway stop-off on the Bay Cycle Way and we were made extremely welcome and comfortable. We had a lovely room, fabulous food and beer, and a very friendly and accommodating host and barstaff. Our stay here was one of many highlights of a wonderful weekend. Jonathan also provided safe and secure storage for our bikes and we felt that nothing was too much trouble, we were looked after superbly. I would highly recommend and hope to visit again.

Met family couple to stay for break in Cark. Visited the Engine Inn for an excellent meal and was so impressed we returned for meals on 2 additional nights. Menu really good, prices very fair and quality of food excellent all provided by great landlord, staff and service.

This is a lovely pub, the staff were really friendly and chatty. We have been here twice once just for drinks and this weekend for food. We had starters (nachos & garlic bread) and mains (chicken burger & The Engine burger) which were really tasty. The chips were more like roast spuds, but they were perfect, really tasty and crispy. Great value for money. We will definitely come again when next in the village.
August 2019 – 5 STARS Gorgeous Weekend Away
We had the pleasure of staying at the lovely Engine Inn. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We had a lovely evening meal and enjoyed the live music on Saturday evening. Breakfast was lovely and set us up for a full day. Perfect place to stay with the river running next to the pub and lovely place to relax. Would highly recommend and hope to return for a bit longer next time.

We had fish and chips and it was the biggest serving of fish and chips that we had ever seen! Cooked to perfection and really tasty. Also a great pint of real ale.

The food is great, the salad dressing and homemade tartar sauce that comes with the fish and chips is the best I have ever eaten. The steak pie is very meaty and the prices seem fair for the area. Well done.

We were staying in the village in July 2019 and visited the pub a few times. It has a friendly atmosphere and staff and locals all friendly and helpful. We didn’t eat in the pub but the food being served looked very good.

We had been out in Windermere for the day and came across this wee gem on our way back to our campsite. We weren’t sure if food was being served as it was mid-afternoon but we were warmly greeted with ‘yes we are’ and presented with menus. A great selection for all tastes, good pub classics and a bit more. Very reasonably priced for the portions they serve up! The staff were excellent, friendly and chatty and down to earth. Great atmosphere and as we were leaving, it was beginning to fill up with locals and regulars. If we’re back in the area, we will be back!
