  • 6th May 2023 – King Charles III Coronation Day

What a weekend we had! Crazy busy all three days with our special Coronation Menu devised by Head Chef, Amanda, and featuring The Duke of Edinburgh’s Special Scotch Egg and The Duke of Lancaster’s Hot Pot. The Barbecue was a hit with Cartmel Valley Game skewers very popular and we sold out of several beers including our King’s Coronation Pale Ale. A big thank you to all who attended!

  • August 2021 – Proud to sponsor of Holker Cricket Club

The Engine Inn is proud to sponsor Holker Cricket Club which plays at Holker Hall (see Nearby page). The Club is made up of a band of enthusiastic locals and is very much a part of the summer social scene in Cark. Practice is on Tuesdays and matches are played all over Cumbria on Sundays. Not surprisingly, a few pints of ale are consumed afterwards!

On August Bank Holiday weekend , the inaugural ‘Arthur Wilson Memorial Trophy’ was contested, playing against the Wilson XI. A closely fought game was won by Holker with the last ball of the match. All proceeds were donated to The Alzeimers Society in memory of Arthur, a much loved local character who sadly passed away in 2019.

We will not be sitting on our laurels and will continue to make improvements. We look forward to welcoming our guests back to The Engine once we can re-open again after the current National Lockdown.
